Sporting colours for Olympic fans

Pupils at Dane Royd warm up for 2012
Sports minister, Gerry Sutcliffe visited Dane Royd Junior and Infant School in Wakefield last month to witness special sporting events and help mark the countdown to London 2012.
Inspired by TeamGB's performance in Beijing, more than 150 schools and colleges across Yorkshire and Humber took part in celebrations to welcome the Paralympic Games contestants home.
At Dane Royd, youngsters took part in a 'Question of Sport'-themed assembly, with teachers dressed as famous sports personalities. Children tried cheerleading, were coached by the Wakefield Wildcats to create a celebration dance, dressed up in Olympic colours and created art pieces.
Clare Kelly, acting head and a Teaching Award winner in 2005, said she was delighted to be involved in the festivities.
'The Games have created great role models for the children, showing them that hard-working normal people can achieve amazing things. At Dane Royd we promote excellence in everything we do and have very high expectations for our pupils.' An education programme for London 2012 called 'Get Set' has been launched with a new interactive website at http://www.london2012.com/getset
The site includes interactive games, fact sheets, updated news, polls, a blog where children and young people can share ideas and a special section for teachers. There are nine short films featuring some great Olympic and Paralympic moments.
'Get Set' supports learning about the Paralympic values of inspiration, determination, courage and equality and the Olympic values of respect, excellence and friendship.
