Thanked by the Baroness, Bob bows out

Shirley Williams and Bob Jennings

The West of England ceremony at the Bath Assembly Rooms, saw Baroness Shirley Williams, chair of the national judging panel, pay tribute to Bob Jennings OBE, who is retiring as chair of that region's panel of judges.

Bob, winner of the 1999 Teaching Award for Working with Parents and the Community in a Secondary School, would be a 'worthy recipient' of the Ted Wragg Award for Lifetime Achievement, she said, given his years of service.

'You are a very modest man who doesn't blow his own trumpet and who just gets on with the job in hand. Thank you very much for all you have brought to education.'

Bob, a 'Brummie' who taught for much of his career at Bristol's largest inner city school, now runs his own consultancy. Progress Through Partnership www.ptpconsultancy.com works closely with extended schools and gives advice on bid-writing and fundraising.
